Designed as a secondary system after a MarineFAST®, the MarineFAST® Biosolids Management System (BMS) allows for longer sludge storage on board the vessel and provides that additional storage capability. A certified MarineFAST® unit will meet the current minimum requirements of the MEPC.159(55) type certification.
How it Works
Our FAST® marine wastewater treatment systems incorporate internal sludge storage capacity needed for efficient disposal to a suitable site or facility. If more than three months of storage is required, the MarineFAST® BioSolids Management System (BMS) is recommended. Excess water is returned to the FAST® treatment process. The transfer pump moves dilute sludge from the bottom of FAST® media tank to the sludge storage tank where the sludge is then anaerobically digested, reducing mass and volume. The products are then returned to the FAST® media tank together with excess water that overflows to the media tank where it will continuously re-process this overflow, subjecting the sludge to alternating aerobic and anaerobic treatment repeatedly to remove as much sludge mass and volume as possible.
How it Installs
The MarineFAST® BMS is equipped with an additional storage tank for the settled sludge from the bottom of the media tank to automatically transfer to the storage tank where it will settle further and be concentrated. When time to pump out, a small blower air scours the storage tank, mixing and circulating the contents for efficient removal so that a space-efficient flat bottom tank can be used. The discharge pump then sends the remaining accumulated sludge to whatever destination is appropriate for the application (large tank, OSV, incinerator, etc.)
Finding the Right Size
It is recommended to check what local regulations are required in case additional information is needed.
